What is the KAMRA Inlay?

The KAMRA Inlay is a small device implanted in the clear front surface of the eye that restores near vision. Kugler Vision seeks to reduce the frustrations of reading glasses with this revolutionary treatment for age related near vision loss – a condition that affects everyone as they progress into their 40s. We Made History Lance Kugler implanting KAMRA Inlay

Kugler Vision was acknowledged for our successful milestone reached on October 7, 2015. Rick Ruggles, health reporter for the Omaha World Herald, published an article about the historic day, “Omaha physician is first in Nebraska or Iowa to implant device in eye, making reading glasses unnecessary”. He joined us in an interview with a Kugler Vision KAMRA Inlay patient, Terry Baker, 49, who is a heating and air conditioning technician.

Terry said he is tired of sweat and dirt collecting on his glasses as he does detailed and close-up work with wires. He says that his glasses are always falling off his face and that with all the inconveniences, it’s almost seeing worse with reading glasses than without. Terry said that he’s noticed his vision changing for almost a decade. In the last 5 years, he noted a big change. Due to his near vision loss and work conditions, he’s been looking for a solution for the past three years. He was told that there wasn’t a good solution and that he would have to be content with his vision and relying on reading glasses.

Thanks to the KAMRA Inlay procedure at Kugler Vision, there is a perfect solution for Terry. He’s looking forward to not depending on his reading glasses at work and in everyday life. Terry said, “I’m not worried at all. I have total and complete faith in Dr. Kugler and his staff”. Not only did Kugler Vision receive recognition from Omaha World Herald, Channel 3, KMTV featured us in a news segment “Reading glasses may be a thing of the past”.

KMTV spoke with a Kugler Vision KAMRA Inlay patient, Courtenay Swanstorm, one of the first people in the state to undergo the procedure. Courtenay said, “I work at a school and the kids make fun of me when they come in and see my ‘old lady reading glasses’ on. My students will be shocked when I show up without them!”
