Presbyopia is a condition that develops in everyone as we age. The crystalline lens is a structure inside the eye that changes focus from far to near, depending on the distance where we are focusing.
As the eye ages, we lose the ability to change our focus from far to near, a condition called “presbyopia.” This condition usually becomes visually significant between age 40 and 43, and worsens through our 40s and 50s.
Traditionally, patients have worn reading glasses or bifocals to help focus at near distances. In recent years, however, new technologies have emerged to reduce dependency on reading glasses and help people see up close.
Dr. Kugler and Dr. Schlichtemeier are experts in presbyopia, and offer several options to reduce its effects.
