Hannah Morrison’s LASIK Story

For years I have worn contacts, and for years I have been so near sighted one may say I’m blind. I have literally put off this experience for years due to anxious fears I had put in my head. Finally in 2015, I decided I had enough of messing around with contacts and glasses. I made the appointment with Kugler Vision to tell me how my sight was, the price of LASIK, and the recovery.

Consultation

The day of my FREE consult was awesome. I made all kinds of friends – at the front desk, with technicians, Dr. Kugler himself. Dr. Kugler stepped in to my room to say hello and to wish me good luck that I might be a candidate for this surgery. I thought the personal touches with this place were over the top! They kept me calm, laughing, and I just had fun joking around with them while technically I was getting every possible test you can possibly run on my eyes to check for the slightest problem. As it turned out, I passed with flying colors and they set me up quickly with a time and day for surgery right there.

When it came down to price, which is what I was dreading, the total amount was actually less than what I had built up in my head. They also have this payment plan for 24 months with 0% interest if you can’t afford the whole amount up front. ANYONE could get this done really!

Surgery Day

The day of my surgery I tried very hard not to think about it. I had to go in ready to have one more check before the procedure. Dr. Kugler likes to dot his I’s and cross all his T’s just to make sure, which somewhat calms you down and keeps you busy doing stuff before the surgery. I had all these thoughts in my head as to how this surgery was actually going to attack my eyes and how much pain I’d have. Jolene, one of my favs gave me something to calm my nerves and told me step by step what to expect and asked if I was ready or they would wait until I was to start. It amazes me how patient the staff are with people who have full schedules of people waiting to be seen, having the surgery the same day and the after care to do too.

I decided there’s no time like the present!! She took me to the surgery room. All my familiar friendly people were there to joke with me, make me comfortable and to help me once again through the process. It was loud during surgery. That’s what I remember as the lasers kicked on. Which I’m still in awe of.

It’s odd but not painful, loud but not scary. You can still talk with everyone in the room, and Dr. Kugler is right over the top of your head making sure the placement is perfect. They had deadened my eyes, so I didn’t actually feel anything on my eyeballs. I felt some pressure as a whole machine was on my head, but it didn’t hurt just felt funny. I built it up way more then I needed to really. They told me that but my nerves still got the best of me. It was over before I knew it, and I was out the door heading home like 20 mins after procedure. I was kind of able to see in a fuzzy, blurry, and sensitive way. Definitely better then when I showed up there.

Recovery Process

Once the eye drops wore off, I could start to feel some stinging, but it wasn’t intense. I took some Ibuprofen and laid down. Eventually within a few hours, in a dim room, I started watching TV. I wasn’t really in pain just kind of felt like I had something in my eyes and wanted to rub them. They all took turns during my checkups to let me know I was to NOT rub them though, so I didn’t.

About 8pm that night I got a phone call…Dr. Kugler himself. Calling to check up on me. No nurse or rep calling. Dr. Kugler himself. I thought that was just personable of him and the office. Reassuring me once again I’d picked the right place to get my LASIK surgery done.

Post Op Appointment

The next morning I was allowed to drive. I drove myself into Kugler Vision. I could see. I mean really see. Like 20/20 see, which was verified by the eye test when I went in the next morning. How crazy, cool, awesome is that?! Dr. Kugler Dr. Kugler was there again, checking my eyes, how I was feeling, and addresses what concerns I may have. I checked out just fine and am letting my eyes heal. I am anxiously waiting to see everyone once again at my 1 month check up after surgery!! These guys did it all.

Every day I feel a little better, my eyes get a little clearer, and the amount of times I have to remind myself that I don’t have contacts in that its MY eyes…well that lessens too. I want to thank every single person at Kugler Vision. I don’t know of a nicer doctor’s office EVER! You guys have the skill and personality to help each and every patient through this process time and time again. You are amazing people, and I truly thank you so much for the love, support, and care each person showed me while I was there with them!!!
